Barigen

Baricitinib has different approved uses depending on the country.

Rheumatoid arthritis

In the United States, baricitinib is indicated for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis who have had an inadequate response to one or more TNF blockers.

In the EU, baricitinib is authorized for adults with moderate-to-severe active rheumatoid arthritis when previous DMARD treatment has not worked adequately or cannot be tolerated. It can be used alone or with methotrexate.

Alopecia areata

Baricitinib is approved for severe alopecia areata.

The U.S. indication applies to adults, while the current EU authorization includes adolescents from 12 years of age.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition in which immune activity affects hair follicles and causes hair loss.

Atopic dermatitis

The current EU authorization includes moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in adults and children aged 2 years and older who are candidates for systemic treatment.

This indication should not automatically be presented as a U.S. indication.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis

EU authorization includes active juvenile idiopathic arthritis in patients aged 2 years and older with inadequate response or intolerance to specified prior DMARD treatment.

COVID-19

The current U.S. label includes hospitalized adults with COVID-19 who require supplemental oxygen, non-invasive or invasive mechanical ventilation, or ECMO.

This is a hospital-based indication and should not be presented as routine outpatient COVID-19 treatment.

Off-label use

Doctors sometimes prescribe medicines outside their labeled indications when clinically appropriate. Barigen.com should not promote off-label treatment or imply that an unapproved use is established therapy.
